Facile room-temperature synthesis of cobalt sulphide for efficient oxygen evolution reaction

Abstract The electrolysis of water is one the most promising strategies to produce renewable fuels and it important develop an energy-conserving, low-cost easily prepared electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). In this work, Ni foam supported Co 4 S 3 (Co /NF) was fabricated by a facile one-step approach at room temperature exhibited excellent OER performance in alkaline media. Specifically, /NF electrocatalysts showed small overpotential only 340 mV reach current density 100 mA cm ?2 Tafel slope 71.6 dec ?1 More importantly, stability achieved under constant h catalyst improved after 1400 cycles linear sweep voltammetry tests Furthermore, underpinning mechanism action studied measuring change valence states different elements elucidate structural active species during electrocatalytic process.
